Let get to the Challenge :) I made a card but  ruined and will try it again and then post it, but I did come up with this box. My very first Sony Walkman or walkman period was one that was 5lbs heavy and an over the shoulder strap...lol The headphones are the handles...remember those big spongy things...lol...Talk about nostalgia...lol...I came up with this box for a couple of reasons...I loved John Hughs Movies and the Breakfast Club is still without a doubt one of my favorites...The song Don't You Forget About Me used to blare throughout my house when the parents weren't home...and i still do today...lol...The era of Michael Jackson being the first Black African American to televise a music video...where Madonna broke all the rules of tasteful lyrics (love her)...where Flashdance was the first sexy dance flick then along came the Hottie of the 80's Patrick Swayze..(drool) in Dirty Dancing...time machines were made of DeLoreans...lol.Love Michael J Fox!!...the big hair...skin tight jeans...leg warmers and neon colors to boot....and lets not forget the when VHS beat out Beta...lol...to many memories to count...too many good times...The best decade of the century..why...because it was the most unique in its style and life was an adventure with the movies, music, fashion...you name it....I loved this challenge...Thanks Janet!!!

The deer is a felt sticker from Basic Grey. Thank You Rosie for a great deal on these :) i also broke out the liquid pearls again and outlined the card and the circle with tiny dots of pearls...

WHAT A FABULOUS NIGHT!!!

Good Morning All!!!
Last night I got a surprise from my DH. It was our 11 year anniversary and we were only going to do something quiet because we've been busy and he's had such an unpredictable work schedule that we actually had to postpone his B-day which is on the 7th, and our anniversary until the end of the month...lol..
He called me up around 4ish in the afternoon and told me to get ready we're going out for dinner. So I'm thinking...maybe The Keg or something like that...then he tells me no jeans...lol...I'm like huh..? Okay so it's not The KEG...lol...

On our way I recognize the route he was taking and we ended up at my all time favorite restaurant. It's called THE OLD SCOTT HOUSE.
Dinner alone is 80-100 person minimum!
It's a historical site on top of that...here is the plaque from the building
Fine dinning at it's best.
I took my DD for her 13th birthday as a treat and opened her mind to what fine dinning really meant.
Here is my disappointment though...it is no longer OLD SCOTT HOUSE, but now the Baton Rouge.
The food was still excellent and cost a little less, but not the same ambiance that I remember. A little louder...the waiters are not in black coat tailed jackets and the sections are now more open then they were before.

But!!! none of this ended up mattering because the waiter was awesome and was very helpful and educated with the food and wine which was Divine!!!! Filet Mignon and a bottle of the best red wine I have ever had. I almost teared up at the end of it all....lol...it was that good...lol...

I will definitely miss the Old Scott House the way I knew it but thanks to DH's Boss gave us a night we thoroughly enjoyed. We had such a rough year that last night more than made up for it.

(HUNNIE IF YOU READ MY POST TODAY, I LOVE YOU DEARLY! THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL EVENING)

I've been trying to fix this photo for some time now because ti came out so blurry. I made this for a Yummy Swap.

I made two different ones, and this one came out the clearest for some reason...I must've had the wrong setting on my camera :(

I've been making larger sized cards such as 5.5 x 5.5 or 5 x 7, which is the size of this card...I like having enough room to create something I actually see before I make it.

I'm looking for some new ideas this year. If any of you have any ideas I'd be happy to hear them :)

Simple Sets! Easy Gift Giving

Good afternoon everyone :)

I've been having trouble with my sleeping patterns and will be looking into a sleep clinic to find out why I'm not sleeping. I've done everything and still not sleeping as long as I should be. With that being said I've lagged a little on posting.

I'll be posting a couple of set that I put together. I hope you like them :)

The first one to left is from the Both Ways Blossoms Set.
I've had the stamp set for a long time and never really use it. When I needed to come up with simple gift giving sets I pulled it out and VOILA! I came out with these. They did turn out really nice. I made 2 of each for this set and used prisma color pencils to color them.

I love this set too. I made this one with 3 different simple styles and two sayings. I had to use this stamp set. I loved the trees and they worked well for what I wanted.

I used SU water based markers to color the images.
Here is the second saying with the 3 different simple styles. All the cards are blank inside to write your own person saying

Thanks for looking! :)

Card Recipe:

Paper: 110LB CS
Ink: Versafine Black, SU Markers.
Stamps: Both Way Blossoms, Good neighbors, Whimsical Words.

Friends Are Precious

Good morning.

I've been trying my best to battle a cold that has been hanging around for awhile. It's difficult to breathe and sleep because of the coughing but keeping busy tends to keep me from falling asleep during the day. Napping doesn't help me when I do want to sleep at night. It's been suggested that I go to a sleep clinic for my insomnia as I do suffer from it every few months...it's strange really. Any whoooo...I'm trying to get better.

Well I love Kristina Werner. I follow her on YouTube and her blog. She is a great inspiration for when I need to get so MOJO going for simple cards that are easy to put together in a hurry or for something different.

She made a card using the Martha Stewart Circle Cutter. I have the SU circle cutter and don't like it as much as I like the MS. Kristina is the reason I invested in the MS cutter, she made it look so easy..lol. She makes everything look easy. This is a 4.25 x 4.25 card and the top of the card with the half circle is the part I used with the MS circle cutter. She has a YouTube video on how to make the half circle for the top part of cards. I made two :) I loved how it looked so much I had to make another. The flowers on this one really stand out and just loved the look :)
Thanks for looking!!

Fall Birthday For A Friend

Well I've been busy with making use of my new craft room and just loving what I'm coming up with. With all that room it's truly an inspiring area for me to be working in. A friend needed a birthday card for her son and I don't make too many masculine cards so this was a great challenge for me.

I tried to make it simple but somewhat masculine. I thought I achieved it, but I was told it's a unisex type card...what do you think..?

Card Recipe:

Paper: GP white, SU River Rock

It's A 25th Anniversary!

So we all know that we have certain milstones in life with ourselves and families. But in this day in age when a marriage can survive the 25 yr mark it's definitely a milstone. Don't get me wrong I believe that marriage is no fairytale but wouldn't you agree that marriage can be just as much work as it is raising a family...? It's shouldn't be, but the truth is that is takes two to make it...and make it strong. Remembering that friendship is just as important to the marriage as any other aspect of the relationship.

I made this card for a couple who recently had their 25th. An extraordinary couple at that. I went for the ageless look and I think I pulled it off. What do you think...?

I used MME PP for the background which made the rest of the card stand out beautifully. I antiqued the card and used a little shimmer on the ribbon. It's very subtle so you won't be able to see it in the picture. Needless to say I'm happy with the card, inside and out :)

Thanks for looking!

Punch Art Swap Card

HI! It's been a long time since I've posted. I'm back with lots of cards and creations so hopefully you all stay tuned. First I'd like to say that my summer has been a really long and hot one and lots has happen, good and bad, but without it life would be boring. I'm glad to be back to show everyone what I've been up too since my craft room makeover :)

Punch Art Addiction~Lovely Lion

The link above is an amazing blog with lots of Punch Art inspiration, which is where I found the inspiration for this card that I made for a swap.

Kim has some free easy tutorials and even some for a really reasonable price. CHECK it out :)

I did use some different punches to sub the ones that were required for this cute Lion. But most of the punches were from Stampin' Up! This was my first attempt at this sort of thing and am quite pleased with the results.
The card size is 5 1/2 x 5 1/2.

Have a great day everyone :)

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Hi everyone! Time for an update..? :)

Well I have to admit it's nice being back here typing away a blurb for my followers to read. It's been a long time and I do want to apologize for such a long absence. Life had definitely gotten in the way. I've not made a card in months and having with drawls every now and then because it is my way of being creative when I need an escape.

I do appreciate all the well wishers and glad that I'm still thought about even though I've been out of the loop for so long. There have been illness, tragedies, stresses, children and well the list goes on. I decided to take a serious break from things and focus and certain things that can't be helped. My life has become busy and it's not slowing down any time soon. So in time I guess when everything goes back to some sort of normality I'll be returning with some cards. I'm thinking another month and I'll be back posting, commenting, and blurffing like I was before.

School is almost out and I'm dreading it. Hopefully this summer will be better than the last...however the weather up hear in Ontario has been brutally hot and so early in the season too...anyhoooooo...everyone have a great day...will post again as soon as I can :)

Need Ideas For This UNIT! HELP

Hi everyone...well it's been quite some time since I've posted and I do miss blogging dearly. I haven't created or made any cards in awhile so I don't have anything to post of my own. I do however have cards I made at a workshop recently that I will post tomorrow :)

Things have been crazy in MY world and to top it all off I get hit with a stomach virus causing lots of yukkies and plenty of sore exhausted muscles. Some say it might be the stomach flu or the Novo Virus or even food poisoning. whatever it was, it's slowly going away. Weakness is still a factor at this point for fear of eating but getting better everyday.

Now For My Request : ) Isn't this cute...however I will probably alter it to match my craft space...

I saw this box and wondered what I could use it for. It comes with removable drawers and is made of cardboard/paperboard. The dimensions are 12 1/4 x 12 1/4 and 6" depth.

I thought about even separating the drawers and using the shell...I'm a blank...HELP any idas for storage ot even craft ideas would be helpful.

Thanks

Isn't she BEAUTIFUL!

My sister and new hubby wubby! Aren't they distgustingly cute...LOL....I did her thank you cards for her wedding. These pictures really don't do them justice but then most pics don't cards justice.

There were 150 + self addressed envelopes. I used the Wedding set from SU for the side image. Stamping 150 of them in one day was hard on the hands...the stamp itself was on a large block so my hand kept cramping...lol...oh well. Scoring the top for added interest was easy  but the inside where I printed her special message was more time consuming because of the kraft photo corners. I had to get hubby to help me with them. Yeah I go his butt working for me this time and boy did he have a hard time...LOL...it's no so simple HUH Dear! I did use glitter to make the image pop a bit which took just as long to do because of the drying time but it looked nice and elegant enough for people to keep it as a memorable piece. But simple enough that if they chose to keep the picture - which pops out BTW, instead of keeping the whole card they can just toss it. Like most of us, we will keep the whole thing but there are those that just want the pic and stick it n the album.

My sister did like them and thats all that mattered anyways right....?

On the front of the cards is a Butterfly. The bottom image if you click on it will show you a close up of it because it is white on white it's difficult to see it in the photo.

It's nice and sunny today...even though it's a bit nippy I'm going to take advantage of the daylight for so stamping...see you all later :)

Sorry I've been MIA!

Hello everyone! I have found some time to myself to put up the rest of the gift sets I did for Xmas. I wish I could have more time to make cards but I've been working on a new project. Wedding Invitations! My very first...from beginning to end. I'll be doing Save The Date cards, the Invitations, RSVP, and Thank You Cards. I'm really excited about it. So I'll post as I go with the samples I'll making :)

For now here are one of the sets I did. Nice and simple but one of my favorites. All the sets I made come with gift tags and a memo book or wish list. With the amount of supplies I have not used I decided to go through my stash to what I had and use them up :) No more Xmas I promise...lol...

Here is another view with the set all ready to be packaged up :)

This set was one of the last ones I did. It was one of the fasted sets to make. What is that they less is more.

Here's another view with the cards .

Dontchya love penguins!! this is waaaayyy to cute.

Thanks For Looking :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!??? LOL

Ya! I know I'm a week late with the CHEERS!! and Noise Makers...lol...and you'd think that the year that I've had I would be ringing in the new year with a bang...I wanted to...but dear hubby had other plans...they didn't work out like he had hoped and we ended up watching a movie. So needless to say I was not happy on New Years!!!  I warned him it wasn't going to happen but he didn't listen. So HIS new years resolution!!! LISTEN TO YOUR WIFE!!! LOL

I do hope everyone had wonderful holiday one they will remember and even record it because this is the year my dear friends where change is going to happen. Especially in my world...And I'll be forcasting some of the changes in the new future. I have many resolutions, all pretty much realistic, but many of them...I will definitely be a busy lady this year.

I am posting the rest of my holiday cards that I made for friends and family. I will be also be posting the xmas sets I made this year for family and friends. I am going to be posting a lot more than I have been because I do have lots more coming up but you'll just hav to wait and see :)

All the holiday cards were made with materials I had already owned except for the curly punch on the Season Greetings Card. I love that punch! I tried to challenge myself with colors I would never usually use for the holidays...like pinks and purples...it was hard! *big whine* I'm such a traditional type and when I go outside my comfort zone I become lost and confused..lol...but I fool around with enough and I can come up wih something I would actually like to give someone.

So here they ar and I hope you like them :)
